Compostable bags are a specific type of eco-friendly packaging designed to break down into non-toxic, nutrient-rich compost (soil conditioner) under specific industrial or home composting conditions. They are distinct from "biodegradable" bags, which may simply fragment into microplastics, and "oxo-degradable" bags, which are conventional plastics with additives that cause them to crumble.
